Q: What is the deadline for signups?

A: The deadline is March 10th.  

Q: What happens if I sign up after the deadline?

A: The player may be placed on the waitlist, with no guarantee of being placed on a team unless there are spots available. 

Q: What are the age divisions?

A: The age divisions are as follows: Age on March 3rd of current year

AGE DIVISIONS:

Division Age
U6 5 - Before 3/3 of current season
U8 6, 7
U10 8, 9
U12 10, 11

Limits: No one younger than 5 years of age and or older than 13 years of age as of March 3rd of the current year.

All players must participate in the appropriate age group, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Q: When does practice start?
A: Practices start the week of March 10th.  This may be sooner or later depending on the coaches availability.

Q: What should the player bring to practice or games? 

A: Players must show up to practices and games with required equipment: soccer ball, shin guards and, cleats or appropriate footwear.

Q: What size soccer ball does my child need:

 U6 - U8: Size 3

 U10 - U12: Size 4

 U14: Size 5

Q: When will I hear from the coach?
A: After the teams are formed in March. The coach will contact the parents of players with their practice schedule.

Q: Where is practice?

Q: How many practices are there and what time?
A: Generally practice is only once a week, at the start of the season due to field availability practices will be Fridays. This will be changed at a later date in the season once our travel teams move off of the fields. For younger players, practice is around 45 minutes, for older players up to 1.5 hours.

Q: When do the games start, how many and how long does the season last?
A: Games start the week of March 20th.  Each schedule typically has 8 games over 8 weeks.  If games are postponed due to weather, these will be made up if there is field availability. 

Q: How many games are there per week?
A: Usually there are 1 game per week. 

Q: How do I get a game schedule?
A: The coach is responsible for furnishing schedules to players and parents. There will also be a game schedule posted here.

Q: What if it is raining during practice?
A: Your coach is responsible for contacting players and canceling practice due to inclement weather.

Playability of the field will be determined by the umpires at the field. The decision of the umpire will be final. If the first game of the night is canceled due to weather, the second game of the night will also be canceled.

VBR Star Soccer Club began in 1986 with the aim to become the premier youth soccer club in the Roanoke Valley. Over the course of 35 years, it has grown to over 1200 kids and 52 travel teams, competing in some of the top youth soccer leagues on the east coast,  ECNL - Regional League and NPL.
